This year I'm going to be a gypsy. I gathered a maxi skirt, collection of scarves, long beaded necklaces, an armful of bracelets, and a bunch of rings. The only thing that I bought was a belly dancing skirt for $5 on Amazon.
There really are a ton of great costumes that you can make with clothes you already have (especially if you have as many clothes as I do). Here are some other great ideas:
- Farmer/Cowgirl - Jeans, a plaid shirt, boots, and a bandana
- Mary Poppins - Black skirt, white button down shirt, and an umbrella (you might have to splurge for a bowler hat)
- Baker - An apron, oven mitts, and a couple of spatulas
- Sick day - A blanket, pajamas, messy hair, and a box of kleenex
- Rosie the Riveter - Jeans, a denim shirt, and a bandana
- Mime - Black and white striped shirt, white gloves, black hat
- Tourist - Cargo shorts, Hawaiian shirt, camera, and a map
- Grandma - Bath robe, slippers, curlers, glasses on a string
- Skier - Snow pants, winter coat, stocking cap, mittens, and goggles
- Yoga instructor - Yoga pants, tank top, and a yoga mat
- Lumberjack - Plaid shirt, jeans, suspenders, work boots, stocking cap
- Equestrian - Leggings, white button down shirt, blazer, and riding boots
- Coach - Track suit, tennis shoes, whistle, clipboard
I'll definitely be revisiting this list in the future!
